Report to

Nutrition Program Manager

SUMMARY

The IYCF Counsellor is responsible for providing information and support to families on optimal infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices. The IYCF Counsellor will work closely with the Nutrition Officer, Program Manager, and other staff to ensure that the program is implemented effectively and that its results are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Provide information and support to families on optimal IYCF practices.

·        Counsel families on how to breastfeed their children.

·        Counsel families on how to prepare nutritious meals for their children.

·        Counsel families on how to prevent and manage malnutrition.

·        Work with community members to raise awareness of IYCF practices.

·        Follow up with families to ensure that they are adhering to the recommended feeding practices.

·        Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in IYCF counseling or nutrition
  • Strong understanding of IYCF principles and practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong commitment to the project’s mission and goals.
