SUMMARY The Nutrition Nurse Assistant is responsible for assisting the Nutrition Nurse in providing diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and follow-up of malnourished children and mothers admitted to the nutrition program in Wanlawelyn district, Somalia. | ||||||||||||
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Assistant Nurse is to assist Nursed to: · Provide diagnosis and treatment of malnutrition. This includes: o Conducting anthropometric measurements to assess the nutritional status of children and mothers o Developing treatment plans for malnourished children and mothers o Administering nutritional supplements and medications · Provide education to children and mothers on nutrition and healthy eating. This includes: o Teaching families about the importance of breastfeeding o Providing information on how to prepare nutritious meals o Counselling families on how to improve their children’s diet · Refer malnourished children and mothers to other health care providers as needed. This includes: o Referring children with severe malnutrition to hospitals for inpatient treatment o Referring mothers with complications of malnutrition to midwives or doctors · Follow up with children and mothers to monitor their progress. This includes: o Weighing and measuring children at regular intervals o Ensuring that children and mothers are adhering to their treatment plans · Maintain patient records. This includes: o Recording anthropometric measurements o Documenting treatment plans o Tracking progress of children and mothers · Other duties as assigned. | ||||||||||||
